Application of non-destructive testing methods for detection and evaluation of defects on repaired gas pipeline with high pressure during service by composite materials
The use of composite materials to repair of high pressure gas pipeline including of global indicators such as safety and low cost, mechanicals properties predictability and performable in all areas and environmental conditions, and also useable for all thicknesses and lengths, is a desirable system of maintenance and also is suitable for replacing traditional methods. Therefore, in order to increase assurance , longevity, effectiveness, permanent repair , ensuring the integrity of the gas pipelines, inspection of mentioned maintenance system for clear of any defects will be unavoid.Regarding to exist varieties of methods to evaluate materials, none-destructive tests are an important that are developed day to day.
In this paper, has been tried, whilst considering created probable defects on repaired gas transmission pipelines during the service by composite material, such as prosity,inclusion,delamination,cracks,impact damage, capabilities relevant non-destructive inspection techniques such as visual test, ultrasonic testing,thermography,acuostic emission and radiographic test base on their intrinsic characteristics and their application are evaluated and finally with respect to types of defects, advantages and disadvantages methods are compared.
