The road surface analysis was performed with the road scanning system using infrared thermography (IR) technique. High resolution infrared camera was employed to characterize road surface condition. In order to setup the system, a software was developed to obtain the optimal thermographic images. Using IR thermography technology, the surface or subsurface of road was successfully monitored in terms of infrared transmission. A lab test was performed with different temperature objects to evaluate the software. Moreover, the actual road scanning tests were conducted to detect road surface defects and to monitor surface profiles. In this investigation, the evaluation of the software and realtime road monitoring results will be introduced, and the testing results will be presented.
