Chemical and filmic residues on surfaces cause quality problems in industrial pro-duction processes like coating, bonding and welding. The increasing quality re-quirements and the change to more efficient production methods, e.g. adhesive bonding and beam welding, creates a demand for clean surfaces and its verifica-tion. The fluorescence measurement is a suitable and proven non-destructive sur-face inspection method due to high sensitivity, fast response, and contactless measurement. In this technique, the German company SITA Messtechnik GmbH has 10 years of experience in development, production, and world-wide applica-tion of handheld device and integrated inspection systems in industrial manufactur-ing.
