Pre-stressed concrete is one of the most common material for bridge construction all over the world. The most important components of the bridge concrete structure are pre-stressed steel reinforcement strands which are usually placed inside the concrete mass and can not be visible from the outside. Corrosion and further rupture of steel strands may lead to bridge collapse. The article talks about the MFL nondestructive method application for steel strands inspection from the concrete surface. Possible disturbances are analyzed and the main one is not-stressed reinforcement bars presence under the concrete surface close to pre-stressed strands. Method capabilities and ways to avoid the disturbance influence on the signal are analyzed. Experimental data obtained on special beam mock-ups is given.
